Reminder: Open season closes next week; make your insurance changes now

By Keisha Reynolds, MyCG Writer

Whether you are a civilian or a military member—you have health care plan choices still available to you through the second week of December. That is, if you’re new or wanting to make a change in your current health care coverage.

For Civilians

You have three options.

  1. Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB). Provides various coverage for you and your families. Plans are also available to retirees and survivors. You can choose from among Consumer-Driven and High Deductible plans, health savings/reimbursable accounts and lower premiums, or Fee-for-Service (FFS) plans, and their Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO), or Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) if you live (or sometimes if you work) within the area serviced by the plan. Check out the FEHB website for more information. Open season ends Dec. 12.
  2. FEDVIP. Offers supplemental insurance plans for dental and vision. These plans are also available to retired members and their families. Visit the site here for more information on available programs. Open season ends Dec. 12.
  3. Federal Long Term Care Insurance (FLTCIP). Applications are currently considered for those who are eligible, however, will be paused beginning Dec. 19th, for 24 months. During that period, applications will not be accepted and there will not be any coverage increases. Your coverage will remain the same if you are currently enrolled. If you have any questions, please reach out to your Retirement and Benefits Specialist. To identify your specialist, visit Servicing Assignment list. Also, feel free to reach out to Long Term Care Partners at 1 800-582-3337, or visit the website.

Please note that some of the above coverage options also applies to members, retirees, and their families.

For members (and families)
