Members, civilians: There's still time to nominate an inspiring leader

By Danielle Tergis, Coast Guard Office of Leadership

It’s not too late to nominate one of your shipmates for the 2023 Coast Guard Inspirational Leadership Awards. The deadline for submissions is next Tuesday, Jan. 17.

To quote a former award panelist, “The Coast Guard has a lot of great people who deserve recognition, and it speaks highly when a supervisor takes the time to recognize their member. The extra recognition could make the difference in job assignment, promotion/advancement, or even on their resume after the service. Even if your nominee is not selected, it is still a big deal to be nominated and the recognition can be documented in other forms (i.e. positive 3307, personnel award, OER/EER, etc.) and presented in front of their crew.”

Award criteria, guidelines, and tips for submitting can be found on the Office of Leadership's website

For over 27 years, the Coast Guard Inspirational Leadership Awards has recognized people who best exemplify the Coast Guard’s core values of Honor, Respect and Devotion to Duty, and inspire others to achieve greatness.

Previous winners have demonstrated exceptional leadership traits, were positive role models and mentors, inspired others to excel in mission performance and have been held in the highest esteem by senior leaders, their peers, and junior personnel.
