Bring Your Child to OUR Work Day!

 

The U.S. Coast Guard is inviting families to Bring Your Children to OUR Work Day on Thursday, April 22.

Coast Guard units around the world will bring children (grades K-12) aboard cutters, planes, helicopters and more in a series of virtual field trips.

Think of it as a guided tour. Our active duty military members will welcome kids aboard for fun activities that highlight careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM).

Fix a 200,000 pound motor

The Coast Guard Cutter Healy is one of the country's three polar ice breakers, or Polar Security Cutters. The Healy lets the United States be a leader in Arctic science research by hosting scientists who studying the Arctic environment and its marine life, to help us better understand this very unique environment. While Healy was on patrol last year, its motor caught fire. See what it takes to replace a motor weighing more than 200,000 pounds!
