NA - In 1812, four cuttermen who were Black slaves, and three free Black men were among 90 crew captured with the USRCS James Madison and held in England as prisoners of war (POWs). Of the free Black men, 15-year-old Beloner Pault of Savannah is the youngest POW in Coast Guard history. This painting shows Revenue Cutter James Madison capturing British brig Shamrock.
