Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Isa Mariano discusses her experience helping a woman who was contemplating suicide from the Golden Gate Bridge, mid-June 2020. Mariano talked with the woman, called her loved ones and with the help of a good Samaritan, brought the woman away from the ledge before bridge authorities arrived on scene to safely escort the woman from Golden Gate.

This program offers benefits that include training, respite care, home care, technology devices and more, and includes retired service members and their families. Some of the services may be cost-shared under ECHO or your TRICARE program—it will be determined by your qualifying condition.

Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors
Tragedy Assistance Program website, TAPS, provides comfort, care and resources to all those grieving the death of a military loved one. The website provides services for grief counseling, and the ability to connect with others who are also grieving the loss of a military loved-one.
Fisher House Foundation
This foundation provides comfortable lodging, free-of-charge, that military and veteran families can stay in while their loved one is in the hospital. They also offer a variety of other programs to support the military community.
Family Assistance During Loss of Service Family Member
If a Coast Guard member becomes critically ill, injured or has fallen in the line of duty, the Fallen Heroes Fund is able to provide some financial support to family members during their difficult time.
