Announcing the DHS Leader Development Speakers Talent Bank

By Janki Patel, MyCG Writer

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is seeking speakers and facilitators to join its Leader Development Talent Bank, a place to find and network with speakers and facilitators across partner agencies. Apply to the DHS Leader Development Speakers Talent Bank as a motivational speaker willing to share your expertise and passion for public speaking and facilitating with your DHS colleagues.

What is a talent bank?

The leader talent bank is a library of volunteers made up of DHS-employed instructors, motivational speakers, facilitators, coaches, and academic lecturers. Members of the DHS Leader Development Speakers Talent Bank share enthusiasm and interest in speaking or facilitating audiences on a wide variety of topics—essential to leader development in DHS.

“The DHS Leader Development Talent Bank is an excellent way to link skilled speakers, instructors, and facilitators who contain a unique insight into DHS missions and culture with components holding events,” said Michelle T. Smith, the program manager within the Coast Guard Office of Leadership.

The talent bank’s pool of candidates has expanded rapidly in recent months. Speaker backgrounds include expertise in labor relations, holistic resilience, compassionate leadership, and more. In light of the current shift to a virtual work environment, speaker profiles were updated to include their experience and willingness to engage virtually.

Join the Talent Bank

DHS Leader Development Talent Bank applicants are rewarded with the satisfaction of using their speaking and motivational talents to push for positive personal and organizational change, encourage leadership development, and network with their DHS colleagues across components. Candidates interested in this unique opportunity will use their expertise as collaborators, and to use personal and professional experiences to inspire others and facilitate conversation.
All applicants must have supervisory approval and the availability to participate.

Coast Guard employees are encouraged to submit their own speaker profile. Fill out the attached Talent Bank Profile form and send it to DHSLeaderDevelopmentProgram@hq.dhs.gov.
