COVID-19: Reserve demobilization guidance

All reservists on active duty in support of COVID-19 must demobilize by Sept. 30 or transition to a new funding string.

Coast Guard kicks off National Safe Boating Week 2021, and Coast Guard, DoD Partners conduct search and rescue exercise off N.C. coast

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (March 31, 202) Sister ships USCGC Charles Moulthrope (WPC 1141) and USCGC Robert Goldman (WPC 1142) moor side-by-side March 31, 2021, at Sector San Juan as they continue their journey to their new homeport. Charles Moulthrope and Robert Goldman are en route to their new homeport in Bahrain in support of the Navy’s U.S. Fifth Fleet and U.S. Coast Guard Patrol Forces Southwest Asia. While in the U.S. Navy’s Sixth Fleet area of responsibility, the crews will support engagements with partner countries strengthening relationships and demonstrating our continued commitment to global maritime security and stability. A major step forward was taken in replacing the service’s aging river buoy and inland construction tenders; Congratulations to all members and civilian employees on their accomplishments!

James Price received his Doctor of Philosophy in Earth Sciences (2020) from Ohio State University. He studied the microbial communities and trophic strategies of Hawaiian corals in the context of a changing climate. He also earned a Master of Science in Biology from Purdue University – Fort Wayne and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Georgia Southern University. Price grew up in Suwanee, Georgia.

Prestigious marine policy Sea Grant Knauss fellowships join the Coast Guard   

Coast Guard’s response directorate receives placements after lengthy hiatus from the fellowship program 

First Class Cadet Josiah Davis, a native of Saline, Michigan, has been awarded one year of graduate school at Florida A&M to complete at the NCAA Division I level for track and field before reporting to his five-year military commitment for the U.S. Coast Guard. Davis is a three-time All-American for the Coast Guard Academy and national champion in the distance medley relay at Saline High School and a two-time national qualifier in the 400 hurdles.
