Deckplate Leader of the Week: Senior Chief Petty Officer Michael Winiarski

By from MCPOG

Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard Deckplate Leader of the Week for Aug. 7, 2020, is Boatswain’s Mate Senior Chief Michael Winiarski. Senior Chief Winiariski is the Officer in Charge of Coast Guard Cutter Kingfisher, in Montauk, NY.

He currently serves as the Chief of the Mess for the Long Island Chiefs Mess, and consistently embodies our Core Values in his interactions with the Mess, his crew aboard the cutter, and out in the community.

He was recently recognized for his leadership efforts during a time which a junior member had several incidents of suicidal ideations. Senior Chief ensured that all necessary resources were provide to care for the member, and the example that he sets was evident in the way the rest of his crew also handled the situations.

BMCS Winiarski is truly a Chief’s Chief, and he will undoubtedly make a great Command Senior Enlisted Leader someday!

Bravo Zulu and Thank you for your leadership.

“My advice for junior members is to take advantage of every opportunity that our Service has to offer. No matter what your aspiration are in this organization, you can benefit at so many levels.”

~ Senior Chief Michael Winiarski
