Event: Jazz livestream this Sunday!

By MyCG Staff

The Coast Guard Band is presenting a short, 30-minute concert featuring our newly formed jazz group (name of group TBD) Sunday, Sept. 20, at 2 p.m. Eastern.

This is a true “livestream” concert, not a pre-recorded broadcast!

“Jazz has an important place as a uniquely American musical art form,” says Coast Guard Band trombonist Chief Petty Officer Sean Nelson, who leads the new jazz group. “The brand new Coast Guard Jazz Nonet provides an opportunity for these nine very versatile members of the Coast Guard Band to showcase their world class talents within the jazz music idiom.”

The nine-member group combines the excitement of a traditional big band with the intimacy of a jazz combo, while exploring the dynamic sounds of the great classic and contemporary jazz worlds.

Here is the link for Sunday’s concert.

Hope to “see” you there!
