The Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer invites you to participate in the 2020 DHS Academic and Professional Development Virtual Symposium.
Dates: Tuesday, September 29 and Wednesday, September 30
Time: 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Location: Virtual. Registration is required.
Coast Guard employees seeking professional development in homeland security related fields are invited to virtually attend the DHS Academic and Professional Development Symposium.
The two-day virtual event offers multiple breakout sessions, offering several learning pathways :
- Overviews of the DHS Mentoring Program (including a live speed mentoring event conducted virtually), the Joint Mission Fellows Program, the Joint Duty Program, the DHS Leader Development Program, Department of Defense education programs, and more;
- Interactive discussions about careers in cybersecurity, emergency management, and other degree programs with several colleges and universities, including the University of Maryland Global Campus, Penn State World Campus, and more.
- Information session about certificate programs and continuing education opportunities;
- “Leadership in Crisis” senior leader panel; and
- Best practices and collaboration workshop to identify potential areas of common interest and endeavors among DHS learning practitioners.

The virtual education fair will take place simultaneously, showcasing colleges and universities that provide educational opportunities specificially for DHS employees:

- Bachelor’s, Master’s, and certification programs from Department of Defense Senior Service Schools; and
- Master’s, Executive Leaders, and Emerging Leaders programs from the Naval Postgraduate School’s Center for Homeland Defense and Security.
