Retirees: Act Now -- Set Up Payment for TRICARE Select Enrollment Fees

Effective Jan. 1, 2021, most retirees and their family members enrolled in TRICARE Select who are Group A will begin paying enrollment fees. If you or your sponsor's initial enlistment or appointment occurred before Jan. 1, 2018, then you are in Group A. You must now set up monthly automatic payments for your new 2021 TRICARE Select enrollment fees. 

If you use TRICARE For Life, TRICARE Prime, TRICARE Reserve Select, TRICARE Retired Reserve, or TRICARE Young Adult, this change won’t affect you. You need to take action if you want to keep your TRICARE Select coverage in 2021. You cannot use the U. S. Coast Guard's Direct Access HR system to start allotments for TRICARE Select enrollment fees.

You must set up payment with the TRICARE contractor (see below for who that is) and at this time must use a bank account or a credit/debit card.  Allotments to have TRICARE fees taken from your retired pay are not yet available. We anticipate that they will become available in early 2021 and will send out more information as it becomes available. 

Please contact your TRICARE regional contractor. Again, the Coast Guard cannot at this time set up these payments from your retired pay. You must make arrangement for payments by contacting your TRICARE regional contractor, who is one of the following:

TRICARE East, Humana Military, 1-800-444-5445 - Allotments can be set up online or via phone. For more information on setting up allotments, visit their website or call 1-800-444-5445.

TRICARE West, Health Net, 1-844-866-9378 - Allotments can be setup online, via telephone self-service, or by paper application. For more instructions on setting up allotments, visit their website  or call 1-844-866-9378.

IMPORTANT NOTE: USCG/PHS/NOAA TRICARE SELECT BENEFICIARIES WHO’VE ALREADY CONTACTED TRICARE AND ARRANGED FOR PAYMENT OF ENROLLMENT FEES BY ALLOTMENT NEED TO KNOW THAT IT WILL NOT BE POSSIBLE TO PAY ENROLLMENT FEES DUE 1 JAN 2021 BY CG RETIREE PAYROLL ALLOTMENT.   TRICARE ENROLLMENT FEES DUE 1 JAN 2021 MUST BE PAID BY EFT OR CREDIT CARD AS SOON AS POSSIBLE – RECOMMENDED NO LATER THAN 20 DEC 2020.   RETIREES WILL BE NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED ADDITIONAL INFORMATION WHEN IT IS POSSIBLE TO PAY TRICARE SELECT ENROLLMENT FEES BY ALLOTMENT.
