By From Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard’s Facebook page

Our Deckplate Leader of the week is Chief Petty Officer Timothy Daugherty, an operations specialist from Communications Command Detachment Kodiak!

Chief Daugherty leads a team of 20 enlisted personnel operating a long-range communications facility in Kodiak, Alaska. His dedication, knowledge, and leadership contributes directly to the success of Alaska maritime search and rescue efforts and Coast Guard Communications Command global communications services. He serves as the Kodiak Island Consolidated Chief’s Mess treasurer and engages in local command leadership initiatives. Daugherty engages with his crew, 90% are going to school and using tuition assistance and the majority are actively engaged in the community through his mentorship. He places trust in his petty officers to lead the local morale committee, training team, and as leading petty officers. He takes care of families while in quarantine by delivering meals, groceries, and much needed items on arrival to the island.

Daugherty is a remarkable leader and a true example of Chief!
