Ended: Emergency paid COVID-19 sick leave

Federal employees are no longer eligible for extended Emergency Paid Sick Leave (EPSL) through the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA).

The act temporarily provided employees with up to 80 hours of EPSL for certain COVID-related purposes.

The FFCCRA paid leave provisions expired on Dec. 31, 2020.

Although Congress did include some additional leave provisions in the 2021 Consolidated Appropriations Act, they did not apply to federal employees.

You may use other available leave and work schedule options for COVID-related purposes. These include telework, annual leave, sick leave, accrued compensatory time off, accrued credit (if applicable), and leave without pay.
