Next Master Chief Advancement Panel convenes May 10

The 2021 Master Chief Advancement Panel (MCAP) will convene May 10 at Coast Guard headquarters. The panel will recommend eligible active duty senior chief petty officers (SCPOs) for advancement to master chief petty officer for all ratings, except the musician rating.

Commanding officers and officers in charge should communicate this message to all active duty SCPOs within their commands, who must be aware of the eligibility requirements outlined below, and familiarize themselves with the contents of the following:

  • Enlistments, Evaluations, and Advancements, COMDTINST M1000.2(series);
  • Military Personnel Data Records (PDR) System, COMDTINST M1080.10(series);
  • Military Separations, COMDTINST M1000.4(series);
  • Guidance and Eligibility Criteria for Enlisted Personnel Boards and Panels, PSCINST 1401.2.

Commands must also be aware of all eligibility requirements to ensure candidates are properly and fairly considered for advancement. Failure to review and follow the guidelines and references will not justify a waiver of their requirements.
