Nominations for the 2021 SARC of the Year

By Keisha Reynolds, MyCG Writer

Beginning today through March 8, nominations are being accepted for the 2021 Liz Blanc Exceptional Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) of the Year Award.

The award is presented by the Department of Defense (DOD), each April, to an individual—either a member or a civilian—from each military service: Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, National Guard Bureau, and the Coast Guard.

The program recognizes individuals’ whose work in the field of sexual assault prevention and response have been particularly noteworthy and demonstrates outstanding support of our service members.

The Coast Guard will recognize a SARC who has done an outstanding job providing SAPRR services for their community and their command. The honoree will be announced during Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM) in April 2021.

Commanders can refer to Solicitation for the 2021 Liz Blanc Exceptional Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) of the Year Award ALCOAST 081/21 for nomination consideration and criteria. This is a great opportunity to showcase the work being done by our SARCs at their respective units.

To expedite the process, headquarters (HQ) SAPRR will accept nominations directly from commanders via emails to the SAPRR Program Manager, Michelle Underwood: michelle.a.underwood@uscg.mil.  The HQ SAPRR office will be the only office to submit the name of the Coast Guard’s awardee. Contact HQ SAPRR for additional information.
