Do you know a female member who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and/or has championed initiatives to achieve, value, and manage diversity in the Coast Guard? If yes—consider nominating them for on the 2021 Women’s Leadership and Excellence in Diversity Awards. 

All female commissioned and enlisted Coast Guard active duty members and reserve members are eligible for nomination. 

The Master Chief Petty Officer (MCPO) Pearl Faurie Women’s Leadership Award: This award will be presented to one active duty or reserve enlisted member between the petty officer third class (E-4) and senior chief petty officer (E-8) rank. To nominate someone for this award, the commanding officer (CO) or officer in charge (OinC), may submit a nomination memo to the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (CG-127) through via email. Nominations must cover the period from January 2020 to December 2020. Note: CO/OICs may only nominate one active duty or reserve member for this award, and they must not have won the award previously. 

The Capt. Dorothy Stratton Women’s Leadership Award: This award will be presented to one active duty or reserve officer between the chief warrant officer 2 (W-2) and lieutenant commander (O-4) rank. To nominate someone for this award, the commanding officer (CO) or officer in charge (OinC), may submit a nomination memo to the Office of Diversity and Inclusion email. Nominations must cover the period from January 2020 to December 2020. Note: CO/OICs may only nominate one active duty or reserve member for this award, and they must not have won the award previously.

The Capt. Edward R. Williams Coast Guard Award for Excellence in Diversity: This award will be presented to one active duty or reserve officer between the chief warrant officer 2 (W-2) and lieutenant commander (O-4) rank. To nominate someone for this award, the commanding officer (CO) or officer in charge (OinC), may upload a signed nomination memo to the Office of Diversity and Inclusion award portal no later than June 1, 2021. Nominations must cover the period from January 2020 to May 21, 2021. Note: CO/OICs may only nominate one active duty or reserve member for this award, and they must not have won the award previously.

In an instance where there is no CO or OIC available to nominate a member, the first captain (O-6) or civilian employee at the GS-15 level in the chain of command can submit in memorandum format a nomination. If you are interested in nominating a CO or OIC, the endorsement must come from the next senior member in command. 

In all cases, nominations must be no longer than three pages. You can read sample memoranda on the Office of Diversity and Inclusion Awards Portal site.
