Spotlight Joint Duty Assignment Opportunities

Operation Allies Welcome (OAW) assignments are nine-month assignments with Department of Homeland Security, Office of the Secretary & Executive Management (OSEM), Operation Allies Welcome (OAW). The OAW, Unified Coordination Group (UCG) has been leading the whole-of-nation effort to welcome our Afghan allies and care for them while we help them resettle and integrate into communities across America.

Policy Staff: This is a six month to one-year assignment located within the Department of Homeland Security, Office of the Secretary - Family Reunification Task Force. The Department of Homeland Security is a member of the President's Interagency Task Force on the Reunification of Families and is joined by the Department of State, Department of Health and Human Services, and the Department of Justice. The Family Reunification Task Force (FRTF) is currently identifying and implementing comprehensive strategies that will bring families back together, ensuring that the children and parents who were intentionally separated from each other are provided support.

DHS Surge Capacity Force Member: The Surge Capacity Force (SCF) program deploys federal employees in the aftermath of a major incident to support response and recovery efforts managed by FEMA. The Act enables federal employees who work every day in the service of the United States to extend their support to a culture of preparedness and volunteerism throughout the Federal Government family.
