Spotlight Joint Duty Assignment Opportunities

By MyCG Staff

Here are a couple of opportunities to support other agencies within the Department of Homeland Security.

Operations Lead: DHS VF manages federal employee volunteers released from their component/agency to assist in performing general (and occasionally specialized) duties so that the component in need can better manager their critical resources to tackle their dire situation head on. Currently, the DHS VF is deployed supporting two missions:

1) the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) mission of securing our borders; and

2) The Department's Operation Allies Welcome mission supporting the resettlement of Afghanistan nationals.

DHS Surge Capacity Force Member : Surge Capacity Force (SCF) program deploys federal employees in the aftermath of a major incident to support response and recovery efforts managed by FEMA. The Act enables federal employees who work every day in the service of the United States to extend their support to a culture of preparedness and volunteerism throughout the federal government family. Deployments are projected to last up to 45 days. You may be asked to deploy within 48 hours after a declared DHS SCF activation.

TSA Payroll Process & Project Lead: This is a 12-month assignment. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) successfully transitioned to a new financial management system in October 2020. With this transition, the payroll process went through significant changes.
