Officers: Attend OPM’s virtual roadshow on afloat assignments

By Nicole Bertrand, MyCG writer

The Officer Personnel Management Division (OPM) continues its virtual roadshow with an upcoming session on afloat assignments. The one-hour event will take place May 25 at 2 p.m., Eastern Time. This session will feature afloat assignment officers and representatives from OPM-4 who can answer your questions about dual track, subspecialties, broadening assignment opportunities, and other points of interest.

You will have opportunities to discuss how to best manage your career in preparation for future promotion boards or command screening panels. This session is a great time to ask questions about the many command opportunities, leadership positions, and staff assignments within the afloat community. There will also be a specific focus on eResumes.

“I’m excited to kick off the 2023 assignment season with this event and looking forward to seeing what questions the fleet has for OPM,” said Lt. Mark Guentert, Afloat Assignment officer. “This is a good opportunity for real-time engagement within the afloat community and I’m hoping for a good turnout and candid discussion about the assignment process with my fellow afloat officers.”

If you would like to attend this event, send an email and you will receive an invitation link. There are three more upcoming roadshow sessions on different topics. If you would like to attend any or all of the remaining events, too, include that in your email as well, and state which specific events and dates. You can find a listing here

You can take advantage of last year’s virtual road show recordings which are an invaluable resource, as they address common topics that OPM-2 covers each year. They also serve as a refresher on the assignment process in general. These recordings are available by going to OPM-4’s portal page. Additionally, units can request in-person road shows by sending an email
