The Coast Guard Ball is back!

By Capt. Joshua P. Miller, 2022 Coast Guard Ball Committee Chair Lead

After more than two years of social distancing and cancelled events, the Coast Guard Ball is back!

This year’s ball is scheduled to be held at the Gaylord National Resort in National Harbor, Md., Aug. 27.

The theme for this year’s Ball, “Celebrating Resilience Through Unity,” reflects on our service’s performance and accomplishments in the face of the unprecedented challenges throughout the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Linking that performance to last year’s hallmarks of devotion and adaptability, we will highlight the premise that our service is truly stronger together.

The ball will be open to active duty, reserve, and retired military members, Coast Guard civilian employees, Coast Guard auxiliarists, and their guests. Additional details, including prescribed uniform and attire, available discounted lodging, and ticket sales, are available on the ball’s website

One of the keys to the success of the ball is representation from all paygrades. In order to help the committee accomplish this goal, we offer the “Sponsor a Shipmate” program.  Anyone can make a donation to sponsor tickets for junior members and their guests. Additionally, junior members (E-5 and below) can submit their names to be added to a lottery for the chance to receive sponsored tickets. You can find both the donations (“Donate” page) and name submissions (‘Sponsor a Shipmate” page) on the ball’s website.

To help us make the ball a successful and memorable event, we are looking for volunteers to serve on subcommittees, and to assist with setup and tear down on the day of the event. No prior ball or event experience is required.

All questions or interest in volunteering for this year’s ball should be directed to the Ball Committee send an email or submit the contact form on the event .

Please join us for what is bound to be a great night out as we celebrate our service!
