Ready, set, post!

By Kathy Murray, MyCG Writer

f you want to help build the Coast Guard of the future, take five minutes to join today’s (Feb. 1) STAR Blitz on social media!

STAR (stands for Scout Talent And Refer) – in case you haven’t heard you can earn $1,000 for referring a new member to the Coast Guard. The limited-time program was introduced last year to help boost enlistments by rewarding members who encourage quality candidates to join the service.

During today’s 24-hour blitz, all official Coast Guard social media accounts, including FacebookInstagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter will post the STAR flyer to continue to get the word out. To amplify this message, we’re encouraging members and families – that's YOU – to post to personal accounts, as well.

And yes, Feb. 1 is National Signing Day for collegiate football, which we think ties in well with our STAR recruiting effort to enlist our friends to our team.

Below we’ve provided a sample message, and even some suggested hashtags to make participating as easy as possible.

ATTENTION!

If you are an active duty, reserve, civilian, retired, or an auxiliarist the "Scout Talent and Refer"⭐ STAR recruiting program now provides a $1,000 cash 💰 incentive as well as Commandant’s Letter of Commendation (LOC) when you make a referral that results in an enlistment in the @U.S. Coast Guard or @USCoastGuardReserve. Multiple incentives are authorized!

Use your personal network and opportunities in your daily life to connect with people who have the potential to join the #CoastGuard!

HERE’S HOW:

1. ENGAGE. Find and interest people ages 17-41.

2. REQUEST. Get their contact info to connect a recruiter @GoCoastGuard

3. ASK. Have them refer another person to you.
