Ready, set, mark your calendars for this year’s CG Marathon Weekend!

By MyCG Team

Running four years strong, the Coast Guard Marathon Race Weekend takes off Apr. 5-7! Lace up and head to Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and start Spring on the right foot.

What to expect

The route that the race follows takes you through the scenery of Elizabeth City, cutting through the USCG base and air station. This race is a Boston Marathon qualifier, USA Track and Field certified and sanctioned for Full and Half marathons.

This year the races that will take place include:

  • Marathon
  • Half Marathon
  • 5K
  • 1K (fun run!)

But that’s not all, a Semper Paratus challenge option is also available. This special option will involve two levels. The first option is to run the 5K AND the half marathon while the other is you run the 5K AND the full marathon. If you complete either of the Semper Paratus challenges, you get a special coin in addition to the race medals.

Cmdr. Heidi Koski, one of this year’s race organizers, is no stranger to the annual marathon, “The course is very fast. Running on the runway is incredible, even for Coasties who get to see our air assets often. This year is going to be even better than the last! And we are proud to honor the 20th anniversary of DC3 Bruckenthal’s sacrifice with the Coast Guard Cutter Nathan Bruckenthal being our featured asset on the medal and t-shirt.”

How to register

If you haven’t already, register at the marathon’s site where you can also find lodging options, directions, and information about the city!

Race you there!
