The rumor is true... just not yet

By AJ Pulkkinen, MyCG writer

Some of you may have heard that CGBI (Coast Guard Business Intelligence) is going away. Fact. However, CGBI will be around and continue to be available for at least another year while we transition and improve the way we provide the data from CGBI. The Coast Guard is not going to make improvements to CGBI in this time, but CGBI will still be here for what you already use it for.

Created in 2006, CGBI provides single log-in access to Coast Guard data sourced from 23 active databases and 11 historical systems. We know that in FY24, 98% of Coast Guard employees used CGBI an average of 70 times per person. You use it to check medical, training, and personnel security readiness for yourself and your unit. Many Boards and Panels use your Employee Summary Sheet (ESS) to view your career summary.

We are using this year to build the replacement for CGBI. In order to build the tools you need, the Transition Team needs to know what data requirements you have. Let them know if there’s a better way the data can be presented to make your job a bit easier.

As an example, The Office of Data Analytics created the Active Duty Enlisted Force Composition Dashboard. This dashboard provides a single location for real-time data related to position fill rates for enlisted personnel across all Coast Guard units. With accurate data, leaders can make timely, well-informed decisions to maximize workforce readiness. To learn more about the Active Duty Enlisted Force Composition Dashboard you can view a Demo Video on CG-ODA’s Media Hub or access the public Active Duty-Enlisted Force Composition Dashboard to interact with this new capability.

Check out the CGBI Transition to Surveyor portal site for the latest updates and email the Transition Team with any other questions you may have.
