2024 Women's Policy Guide now available!

By Erin Wilkerson, MyCG Writer

The Coast Guard Women’s Policy Guide is now available on the Office of Employee Engagement and Culture’s website here.

Formally known as the Female-Relevant Policies Resource Guide, this comprehensive 18-page document serves as a reference tool, listing and summarizing current policies, procedures, and instructions that are particularly relevant to female servicemembers, though many apply to all service personnel. Originally developed in response to recommendations from the Women's Retention Study and Holistic Analysis (WRSHA), with support from the Coast Guard Office of Employee Engagement and Culture, this guide is designed to increase awareness among leaders and individual servicemembers alike.

What’s New in the Guide This Year?

Since 2022, when the last iteration of this guide was released, the Coast Guard has made a few policy changes impacting uniform standards, body composition, pregnancy and post-partum, dependency care, and support opportunities. This brings together all these changes in one easy to use guide.

How Will This Guide Help You?

For supervisors, especially those managing personnel afloat or in remote areas, this guide is an invaluable resource. It equips you with the knowledge to enforce policies consistently and accurately, fostering a more inclusive work environment.

For individual servicemembers, it serves as a comprehensive reference, empowering you to make informed decisions about your Coast Guard career. It provides clarity on policies that may affect your work environment, career progression, and personal life.

What’s Next?

All Coast Guard personnel are encouraged to download and familiarize themselves with this essential resource. The guide is available for download on SharePoint

Remember, while this guide focuses on policies relevant to women, its proper implementation benefits all members of the Coast Guard. By creating a more inclusive and supportive environment, we enhance our mission capabilities and strengthen our service.
