Coast Guard reinstates COVID-19 discharged servicemembers

By MyCG Staff

The Coast Guard has announced measures to reinstate Coast Guard servicemembers discharged during the COVID-19 pandemic over vaccine mandate refusals.

Following the directives from President Donald J. Trump and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, Coast Guard Acting Commandant, Adm. Kevin Lunday, has taken immediate action to inform affected servicemembers of their opportunity for reinstatement.

In an official letter sent to those discharged under the COVID-19 vaccine mandate, Adm. Lunday extended an invitation to rejoin the service, outlining the process for reinstatement and potential benefits, including back pay, bonus payments, and/or compensation. The letter emphasizes the Coast Guard’s commitment to welcoming back eligible members and ensuring a smooth transition for those who choose to return.
