Coast Guard youth: Submit your best creative work to the Military Kids Creative Showcase

Coast Guard youth — the USO Military Kid Creative Showcase is open for submissions due April 30, at 11:59 pm EST. The showcase is open to any U.S. military child of an active-duty, reserve or National Guard service member, 18 years old or younger.   

Students can submit either artwork or creative writing pieces to the showcase within the following three categories and they are allowed only one submission per category. The categories are: 

  • Writing -Youth (Ages 12 and younger) 
  • Writing -Teen (Ages 13-18) 
  • Visual Art (All kids ages 18 and younger) 

To apply: 

  • Use the online submission form, which must be completed by a parent or legal guardian to provide consent for their minor’s participation in the showcase. 

For written entries: 

  • Submissions must be approximately 75-500 words for youth. 
  • Submissions must be approximately 500-1,000 words for teens. 
  • All written submissions must be in English. 

For visual entries: 

  • For visual artwork entries, simply take a picture of your child’s artwork or scan and upload. For writing entries, please upload your submission as a Microsoft Word document or PDF. 
  • Only original art and writing will be accepted.  
  • A downloadable artwork canvas for kids is available. Please note that the use of these frames is entirely optional.
