Compete in CGMA’s golf tournament, raise money for Coast Guard families

By Keisha Reynolds, MyCG Staff

Early Bird Registration is open for Coast Guard Mutual Assistance’s (CGMA’s) annual Invitational Golf Tournament to be held on November 12 - 15. The event is open to all active duty, reserve, auxiliary, retired and civilian personnel of the Coast Guard, as well as family and friends.

“I love three things about this tournament,” said CEO Brooke Millard, Cmdr. USCG (Ret.). “First, it brings our Coast Guard community together and offers a place to reconnect, share laughs, and rekindle the unique camaraderie that defines the spirit of the U.S. Coast Guard. Second, funds raised directly help Coast Guard members in need. And third, it's just fun to play golf four consecutive days on four beautiful courses.”

The registration for early-birds lasts through June 20; general registration closes on October 1. The field is limited to 240 participants and the first 100 registrants will receive a 10% discount. Any interest received after October 1 will be accepted on a space-available basis although organizers caution that the tournament regularly sells out early.

The four-day tournament consists of three days of individual stroke play followed by a team scramble event on Saturday. The basic tournament package includes:

  • Four (4) rounds of golf with cart
  • Range balls for Wednesday-Saturday
  • One (1) ticket to the tournament’s Welcome Dinner and Awards Banquet
  • Breakfast and lunch for Wednesday - Saturday
  • A swag bag; and
  • Access to discounted replay rates for additional rounds.

Onsite accommodations (Nov 11-15) may be added during your registration process. Discounted registration and lodging are available at special rates for junior members. You can reach out to your local Morale, Well-being and Recreation (MWR) representative for cost support through the Community Services Command’s (CSC) Sports Grant program.

Administrative absence may be authorized for active duty, reserve and auxiliary participants. If you are a civilian employee, then you may use annual leave, accrued compensatory time off or earned credit hours (if available)—or leave without pay.

More details on this event, including registration requirements, resort information and prices can be found on the CGMA’s website.
