Postponed: Reserve SWE

By AJ Pulkkinen, MyCG writer

The Reserve Service Wide Exam (RSWE) scheduled for this month is postponed until January 2026. Due to the current lapse in appropriations, many RSWE proctors and education services officers (ESOs) are furloughed and unable to administer the test. Additionally, taking the RSWE is not deemed an excepted function permitted during the lapse in appropriations, so test takers cannot use an IDT (Inactive Duty for Training) period.

Pending appropriations, the RSWE is rescheduled for January 2026. The Coast Guard’s Personnel Readiness Enterprise, primarily PSC, PPC, and FORCECOM, will work to accelerate processing times so that advancement and assignment timelines are not delayed by the delay in testing.

Please reach out to your CSEL and your Reserve Forces Readiness Staff (RFRS) for any questions.
