Attention, Coast Guard athletes! The service is seeking nominations for its 2025 Elite Male and Female Athletes of the Year (EAOY) Award.
Every year, Coast Guard Sports recognizes active-duty members for athletic excellence, professionalism, and community service. These athletes serve as role models and demonstrate dedication both on and off the field. “I’ve followed the Coast Guard’s Elite Athlete of the Year winners since I was a young third class and long admired our athletes’ dedication,” said Coast Guard Sports Program Manager CWO-3 Kelly Johnston. “I feel incredibly fortunate to oversee this program and the selection process. It’s an honor to help recognize the athletes who embody the very best of our service.”
Commands must submit nomination packages to the Community Services Command (CSC) by January 23, 2026. Packages should include a one-page memorandum and EAOY slide deck, which must follow the provided template. Submissions must come from the nominee’s unit Commanding Officer or Officer-In-Charge. As a reminder, the nomination period covers achievements from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025.
Nomination criteria include athletic achievements, professional accomplishments, and community service contributions. While community service is not required, it is encouraged. Nominees must also provide a photograph of themselves in Service Dress uniform and action photos showcasing their athletic performance.
Templates for nominations and additional details are available here. Commands can use DoD SAFE to submit large files exceeding email size limits. Questions and submissions should be directed to CWO3 Kelly Johnston at Kelly.A.Johnston@uscg.mil.
