Don't wait until June to sign up for military or community-based childcare!  If you are looking for military or community-based childcare and school-age care (for children between 6 weeks and 13 years old), request a childcare space through MilitaryChildCare.com (MCC) now.

To make things easier for Coast Guard families as the summer fast approaches, we’ve answered some FAQs on these summer childcare options.

When should I request care if my family is transferring to a DoD/USCG installation?

You should search for and request care as soon as you know where you will be stationed and your anticipated arrival date, even before orders are issued. If childcare is not available at your new permanent duty station (PDS) until 30 days or more after the date you need care, you may be eligible for reimbursement of travel costs for a designated person who will care for your children. For information, click here. Coast Guard Mutual Assistance also offers permanent change of station (PCS) childcare grants

What if the installation does not operate military childcare programs or there is a long waitlist?

Active duty and reserve members on 180-day orders may be eligible for the USCG Military Child Care in Your Neighborhood (MCCYN) Fee Assistance (FA) program. This site is designed to help families determine their MCCYN eligibility, explore qualifying providers, select a program, and apply for assistance. For FAQs and other information, click here.

How do I find a state-licensed childcare near my duty station or where I reside?

Connect with your local Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R) Organization by going to Child Care Aware of America and inserting your home or duty station zip code. You may also call 1-800-424-2246 for assistance.
