Coast Guard announces 2024 Inspirational Leadership Award winners

Eight Coast Guard members and civilians honored for outstanding leadership achievements & impact.

An Auxiliary vessel, NUSAR, and crew returns to Coast Guard Station Michigan City after completing a training exercise involving a paddleboarder in distress. This Chicago-based crew traveled across Lake Michigan from Coast Guard Station Chicago for a joint operations training event in Michigan City, Indiana involving active duty, Reserve and Auxiliary personnel in September 2023. The event included both fixed-wing aircraft and small boats - for this exercise, an AUXAIR crew spotted the paddleboarder in the water and routed the coordinates through the watchstanders to the small boats. How one member moved from the silver Auxiliary ranks to the gold bar of ensign

Ensign Michael Barth began his Coast Guard journey as an Auxiliary member; today he is assigned to Sector New York. 

Chatham, Massachusetts - Massachusetts Maritime Academy Auxiliary University Program (AUP) Cadets Mitchell Campbell, Jacob Bolles, Alexa Smith, Abigail LeLievre, and Cole Francavilla stand in front of retired Motor Life Boat CG 36500 during spring commissioning work. Commandant Karl L. Schultz has announced eight winners.
