New bereavement leave policy for military members offers Coast Guard families support

Members now have 14 consecutive calendar days following the death of an immediate family member.

The Long Blue Line - 20 Years OIF: This is the Coast Guard Cutter Walnut's story about deploying to the Persian Gulf for buoy tender operations 

The cutter deployed to the Persian Gulf to defend against environmental warfare in the form of oil spills.

Petty Officer Second Class Paul F. Floge, a Coast Guard reservist with Coast Guard Port Security Unit 311 out of San Pedro, Ca., provides security with a .50 caliber machinegun on the Khawr al Amaya oil terminal off the coast of Iraq. Flodge, who works full time for the Los Angeles Police Department, is one of many reservists called to active duty in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
