The Coast Guard Historian’s Office recently unearthed several shipboard Christmas menus in its Archives and Special Collections. They are few, but rather colorful and provide insight into a bright spot in an otherwise monotonous lifestyle at sea.

The Coast Guard increases junior officer command opportunities

More communities will have paths to earn a position as a unit commander earlier in their career.

U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Healy (WAGB 20) approaches the pier during its return to home port in Seattle on Dec. 15, 2023, following a multi-month deployment to the Arctic and circumnavigating North America. Cutter Healy returns home after circumnavigating the globe

“The Healy continued demonstrating the nation’s commitment to the global science community as it seeks to improve understanding of the changing Arctic, particularly in ice-covered waters difficult to reach by most research vessels.” - Capt. Michele Schallip, commanding officer of Healy.

The Facilitated Online Training framework was developed as part of the service’s Modernized Ready Learning Strategy which is focused on adopting current industry technologies to make learning more adaptable, modular, and student centered.
