Calling all runners!

By Petty Officer 1st Class Tara Molle-Carr

Lace up those sneakers and get ready to run – again!

The 2nd annual Coast Guard Half Marathon and 5K starts March 3, 2022.

Over 11,000 runners ran in the inaugural virtual event. This upcoming year, the Coast Guard Marathon is ready to welcome runners from far and wide to Elizabeth City for the full and half marathon and the 5K!

“I am excited for the first-ever, in-person Coast Guard Marathon,” said Cmdr. Brook Sherman, commanding officer at Coast Guard Base Elizabeth City. “The completely virtual inaugural event last year was more successful than we could have imagined and set the pace for this legacy event in honor of the greater Coast Guard for years to come.”

If you’re unavailable to make the event in Elizabeth City, a virtual option is also available so you can still run your own race, at your own pace, in your own space.

Sherman added, “I am personally looking forward to running with and meeting participants from across the nation in Elizabeth City for the March 2022 event.”

Thank you for helping pay homage to the men and women of YOUR United States Coast Guard!
