Opportunity: Become a personal coach through this free federal program

By AJ Pulkkinen, MyCG Staff

Once a year, the federal government solicits applicants for a personal coach training program. March 20 is the deadline to apply for the next eight-month program.

Coaching is an experiential development process that facilitates change and growth in both individuals and groups. The federal government uses coaching to help employees reach professional and business-related challenges. You can learn more about coaching on the Federal Coaching Network’s website

The Federal Internal Coach Training Program (FICTP) offers a unique opportunity for federal employees to become personal coaches. The program is free for all participants.

Federal employees who are a GS-12 or higher, full-time, permanent, and have been with DHS for at least one year are eligible to apply. Employees must have achieved at least a “Meets Expectations” or equivalent on their last review and be in good standing. Military members O-3 and above are also eligible.

The expectation is that graduates of this program will coach other federal employees and help transform leadership across the government. Please find the 2023-2024 FICTP Application here. Applications must be submitted to Alyssa Lombardi no later than close of business March 20.
