Federal Benefits Open Season will end on Monday, Dec. 8, 2025. This is the time to ensure that you have the right health, dental or vision insurance coverage that best suits your needs for the upcoming year. Additionally, you can enroll in the Federal Flexible Spending Account Program (FSAFEDS) for 2026.
Compare Different Health, Dental, and Vision Plans
Keep in mind that many plans will see benefit and rate changes. Some plans are dropping out of the program and others are changing their service areas or coverage options.
To compare costs, benefits, and features of different health plans, please refer to the FEHB Plan Comparison Tool. If you wish to add, cancel, or otherwise modify your FEHB coverage, you must do so through the My Employee Personal Page (My EPP).
To compare costs, benefits, and features of different dental and vision plans, please refer to the FEDVIP Plan Comparison Tool. To enroll or change your current plan, visit the BENEFEDS website.
Important Reminders
As you consider your options, keep the following in mind:
- Premium rates may change from year to year, even when you maintain the same insurance provider and enrollment option (Self Only, Self Plus One, and Self and Family).
- Significant Plan Change Changes: If you were notified that your carrier is leaving the FEHB program or your plan is no longer available for 2026, you will need to elect a new plan using My EPP. Review the Federal Benefits Open Season Highlights 2026 Plan Year.
- to see if your plan is listed and take action during Open Season. More information is available in OPM’s Fast Facts - What to do When Your Health Plan is Terminating Coverage in Your Area or Leaving the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) Program.
- In some cases, your share of premiums for the Self Plus One enrollment type will be higher than the Self and Family enrollment type. If you wish to cover one eligible family member, you can elect either Self and Family or Self Plus One for your enrollment type.
- Flexible spending account (FSA) enrollments will not continue into the new year. If you want to have a Health Care FSA, Limited Expense Health Care FSA, or Dependent Care FSA in 2026, you must enroll during Open Season. If you don’t enroll in a Health Care FSA or Limited Expense Health Care FSA for 2026, you won’t be eligible to carry over up to $680 in unused funds from your 2025 account.
