The history of African American participation in the Coast Guard and its predecessor services dates back to the very founding of the Service in 1790.

The Judge Advocate General publishes a periodic Good Order and Discipline (GOAD) Report of statistics and narrative descriptions of discipline to inform the Coast Guard community and reinforce Coast Guard standards.

An Auxiliary vessel, NUSAR, and crew returns to Coast Guard Station Michigan City after completing a training exercise involving a paddleboarder in distress. This Chicago-based crew traveled across Lake Michigan from Coast Guard Station Chicago for a joint operations training event in Michigan City, Indiana involving active duty, Reserve and Auxiliary personnel in September 2023. The event included both fixed-wing aircraft and small boats - for this exercise, an AUXAIR crew spotted the paddleboarder in the water and routed the coordinates through the watchstanders to the small boats.
