Coast Guard Cutter James wins the Excellence in Safety Award: The Coast Guard Commandant, Adm. Karl Schultz, presented the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter James, a National Security Cutter, the Excellence in Safety Award March 18, 2021. The crew of the James was honored for its quick and innovative thinking during a counter-drug patrol. During the 74 days underway, the crew devised and implemented extensive operational and personal protective procedures to keep everyone free from infection and maintain its full mission effectiveness, despite interdicting three detainees that tested positive for COVID-19. Bravo Zulu to the crew of Cutter James!

PACIFIC OCEAN (Sept. 30, 2016) A merchant mariner aboard the fast sealift ship SS Capella (T-AKR 293) mans the helm as the ship is underway to conduct a 120-hour turbo activation. The U.S. Transportation Command (TRANSCOM) conducts turbo activation to measure personnel and material readiness of the selected Ready Reserve Force. Capella, more than 40-years-old, is still among the fastest cargo ships in the world and capable of transporting nearly all equipment needed to outfit a full mechanized brigade of the U.S. Army. Coast Guard Academy participates in NSA Cyber Exercise 2021

The National Security Agency helps prepare future military leaders to protect our critical infrastructure by conducting the NSA Cyber Exercise (NCX)

The USCGC Alert (WMEC 127) and its crew return to homeport in Astoria, Oregon, Wednesday, April 7, 2021, following a 63-day patrol that began in early February. The cutter and crew patrolled off the coast of Mexico and in the vicinity of the United States-Mexico Maritime Boundary Line enforcing international laws and treaties to disrupt illegal narcotics and migrant smuggling.
