Petty Officer 2nd Class Nicholas Lusk, a PSU 309 tactical boat crew member, mans the aft M240B during a waterside security drill Sept. 19, 2022, as part of the training exercise Desired Effect held in Farmington, Missouri. During this evolution, an opposing force vessel began a simulated attack on two high value assets—one at anchor and one underway—initiating multiple high speed tactical maneuvers by the PSU. As the vessels dodged each other, their sharp turns and evasive maneuvers tossed up a heavy wake, and gave the boat crews a realistic training environment for boat handling and weapons employment.
