Coast Guard Marathon offering Veterans Day discount

In December 2020 the Coast Guard announced a temporary change to the Coast Guard Supplemental to the Joint Travel Regulations (CGS-JTR) allowing members more flexibility when choosing a vehicle processing center (VPC) for the government funded shipment of their POV. This change was set to expire 31 December 2021. However, this policy has been extended another year, and approved to become a permanent addition to the CGS-JTR. The Long Blue Line: “Sooner Squadron”—First Native American Women to enlist in the Coast Guard 

At least six women from Oklahoma’s tribal nations served in the U.S. Coast Guard Women’s Reserves (“SPARS”) during World War II. They enlisted for the same reasons as other American women and performed the same duties, yet newspaper reporters sensationalized their stories with popular culture stereotypes. These SPARS allowed male Coast Guardsmen
