An Auxiliary vessel, NUSAR, and crew returns to Coast Guard Station Michigan City after completing a training exercise involving a paddleboarder in distress. This Chicago-based crew traveled across Lake Michigan from Coast Guard Station Chicago for a joint operations training event in Michigan City, Indiana involving active duty, Reserve and Auxiliary personnel in September 2023. The event included both fixed-wing aircraft and small boats - for this exercise, an AUXAIR crew spotted the paddleboarder in the water and routed the coordinates through the watchstanders to the small boats.
