SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (March 31, 202) Sister ships USCGC Charles Moulthrope (WPC 1141) and USCGC Robert Goldman (WPC 1142) moor side-by-side March 31, 2021, at Sector San Juan as they continue their journey to their new homeport. Charles Moulthrope and Robert Goldman are en route to their new homeport in Bahrain in support of the Navy’s U.S. Fifth Fleet and U.S. Coast Guard Patrol Forces Southwest Asia. While in the U.S. Navy’s Sixth Fleet area of responsibility, the crews will support engagements with partner countries strengthening relationships and demonstrating our continued commitment to global maritime security and stability. Great ideas from around the Coast Guard are recognized at the Thomsen Innovation Awards

A team from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy participated in the National Security Agency’s 20th annual National Cyber Exercise (NCX), a three-day cyber competition that tests the offensive and defensive cybersecurity skills virtually, April 8-10, 2021. The Coast Guard Academy recently instituted a Cyber Systems degree to meet the needs of the services cyber security strategy of defending cyber space, enabling operations, and protecting infrastructure. A major step forward was taken in replacing the service’s aging river buoy and inland construction tenders; Congratulations to all members and civilian employees on their accomplishments!

James Price received his Doctor of Philosophy in Earth Sciences (2020) from Ohio State University. He studied the microbial communities and trophic strategies of Hawaiian corals in the context of a changing climate. He also earned a Master of Science in Biology from Purdue University – Fort Wayne and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Georgia Southern University. Price grew up in Suwanee, Georgia.
