Coast Guard men, women and assets associated with the Fifth District  began playing a vital role in Coast Guard history the year the Constitution was signed.

KODIAK, Alaska - The Base Kodiak Teen Center battle in a game of life-size Hungry Hippo. Coast Guard Base Kodiak, Alaska, is one of the largest Coast Guard bases in the world with more than 3,500 active duty, retired military, civilians, and their family members in the area. Kodiak, also known as the "Emerald Island," is located approximately 250 miles southwest of Anchorage and is home to the base’s Morale, Well-Being and Recreation (MWR) program. ARCTIC OCEAN – Test measurements from a sea glider are recorded on a computer Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Healy (WAGB-20) approximately 100 miles northwest of Barrow, Alaska, in the Chukchi Sea. Sea gliders are semi-autonomous submarines used to measure water conductivity, temperature, depth, oxygen and other measurements in the Arctic Ocean. Once deployed, the sea gliders are controlled by pilots in the Applied Physics Lab at the University of Washington in Seattle. Approximately 30 scientists are aboard the Healy to study stratified ocean dynamics and how environmental factors affect the water below the ice surface for the Office of Naval Research. The Healy is one of two ice breakers in U.S. service and is the only military ship dedicated to conducting ice research in the Arctic. Reserve Manual updated for easier use

The Reserve Policy Manual has been divided into three documents for easier use.
