Microsoft 365 arrives at the Coast Guard

By the end of October, all Coast Guard workforce members –active duty, civilians, and reservists – will have a new email account through Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365). While emails will not turn off unexpectedly, there are some important changes to keep in mind as this transition begins.

Civilian Payroll Tax Deferral starts now

The Coast Guard’s civilian payroll provider will defer payroll taxes starting with your next paycheck, for pay period 18. The National Finance Center (NFC) is making this change to implement the Payroll Tax Deferral memorandum issued by President Donald J. Trump on Aug. 8.

Recovery from sexual assault takes time and support, and generally does not look the same from one person to another. For some survivors, talking about their assault helps them process the traumatic event they experienced and thus helps them along the road to recovery. Hearing first-hand accounts of those traumatic events helps family members, friends, supervisors, and peers to better understand what trauma looks like and being able to better connect with the survivor. Body composition screenings resume Oct. 1

All Body Composition Screenings will resume Oct. 1, after being suspended this spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Body Composition Program (“weigh-ins”) is currently in a pilot phase, which has abdominal circumference (AC) as an additional method of compliance, based on medical data indicating that it provides a more accurate health snapshot. The physical fitness test (PFT) also remains a method of compliance during the pilot program extension (01 Oct – 30 Nov). The goal is to improve the Coast Guard's approach to assessing members' health and readiness.
